Keys to Facebook Success

Before you jump in and start creating your Facebook ads, its very important to understand its keys to success.

Many marketers just barge in and no wonder they struggle to maintain their click-through, conversions, returns!

So I have come up with these little tricks which you need to focus on in order to make a successful Facebook ad.

 1.TARGETTING

Getting your Ads in front of the right audience

Facebook is an advertising company and if you are giving them the money then they are going to spend it!

So, it becomes really essential for you to show your ad to the potential audience.

3 ways of targetting
  • Core targetting
This allows you to put your ad in front of the audience which is near you in radius, demographics-male female, what age they are, what Behaviours online.

Add location according to your business preference, select age, and start adding interests and behavior of people on which you want to target them.

  • Custom Audience
This allows you to connect with the people who have already shown an interest in your business or product. You can create an audience from your customer contacts website traffic or mobile app.

All the sources with the help of which you can create Custom Audience -

For example- You must have noticed that you might see exactly the same products on your Facebook news feed which you had seen on an eCommerce website and you might wonder that how you are being shown the same things?

How do they know?

This is product remarketing- targeting those people who have visited their website!

With this kind of remarketing it increases their chance of getting more conversions!

You can now see the power of remarketing using these custom audiences over just targetting people with interest who may be interested in your product but haven't taken any action.

  • Lookalike Audience
Reach new people who are similar to audiences that you already care about.

What they really do is use the source audience (customer audience) which you have created and find similar people and target them.
For example-
I had a source audience, of 10000 people and I was able to scale that audience to 200000 people who were similar to 10000 people who had visited my website.

You can also reach new people similar to your highest-value customers. When you select a source that includes customer lifetime value (LTV), Facebook uses that information to find new people with traits similar to the customers your business values most.

To create a value-based lookalike, upload a CSV or XLS sheet with all the details of your customers with LTV, or set up your pixel or app to capture events that contain a value, such as purchases.

** If you are someone who is just starting from scratch then you can first run an ad targeting core targeting options leading them to your website and then you can simply follow the process.

  2. FUNNELS

This is essentially the Marketing Funnel.

People first become aware of the product, then they might consider taking an action, and finally, they would convert - make a sale.

This is an imp mind frame to think in because facebook platforms quite different from google!

                                                               FACEBOOK                      VS                           GOOGLE

As you can see we go on google and search for a very specific term because we have already made up our mind that yes! I have to buy it .

But this is not the case with Facebook. We go on Facebook just to connect with our friends and not search for anything and that's why you may need to make people more aware of your products first!

** Need for funnel drives from different user intent**

  3. AD FORMATS

Matching the ad format to our objective is the main thing.

There are many ad formats available like the video ads, single image ads, carousel ads, link clicks but the main thing is which ad format will be best suited to you according to your business objective.

Here is the thing-

If you want to collect information about the customers coming to your website then lead forms would work best for you and you can collect all the data you need and might use it later too.

  4. BUDGET

The budget is set according to the objective of your business!

If you want people to come and fill your lead form then your daily budget must be above $5.

But if you just want to get charged for impressions(you just want people to become aware of your brand) then the daily budget can be a minimum of $1.

These budgets are just a guideline and this works differently for everyone!

  5. AD CREATIVE
This is the part which people will see on their Facebook feed and you must make sure that your ad creative must be very visually attractive and must draw people's attention.
Important points to a great ad creative-
  • It's visual- Use bright colors as they will stand out from the rest and will draw people's attention.
  • Relevancy - Image must be related to the ad's main goal.
  • Make a strong offer- It should include an enticing offer! Your headline must be very catchy.
  • Strong Call To Action- Your CTA must be relevant to your ad.

The above image is a clear example of how an ad creative should be!

Its headline is attracting the audience to come and visit the website now with a strong and clear Call to button.

  6. SPLIT TESTING

If you want to maximize your profits then you really need to find what is most effective in your ad in terms of ad copy, image. targetting etc.
** example of slit test

So you can actually compare and test your ad between two different headlines, 2 different images, between different targeting, interests, and any more!

Above are two Ads with differents creatives, everything else is the same. With this, we can compare which AD creative do people find more attractive and what works best for you!

Split testing will actually give you a clear idea about what works best for you.

  7. TRACKING AND REPORTING

Before you dive into reporting, you must need to find success for you first.
What are your business goals!
  • Define your business goals> set KPI'S for ads > Assess results
  • Metrics like CPM, CTR, CPC are important to understand but your main focus should be on  Cost per Result or cost per desired action which means what cost are you paying for getting that one conversion!
  • Enable conversion tracking with Facebook pixel and Google Analytics.
"TEST. LEARN.ITERATE"
Use reporting as a feedback loop to improve your next campaigns!

So these were 7 Keys to success which you need to keep in mind before making and AD.
